When the storms roll in, homeowners often face the daunting reality of potential damage to their home’s exterior.
You may wonder, ‘How extensive is the damage?’ and ‘How do I begin the insurance process?’ This uncertainty can leave you feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable, especially when dealing with the insurance world—one mistake could lead to an expensive headache. Understanding your situation is our priority, and we empathize with your frustrations. At F-M Exteriors, we know that wrestling with an insurance claim is an exhausting and often confusing process. With over 25 years of experience, we’re here to ensure you don’t feel alone on this journey. We’ve guided thousands of homeowners like you through the storm damage repair process, securing the repairs your home needs. Below is a 12 Step plan that homeowners can expect while we walk them through the storm damage restoration process.
The 12 Steps to Getting Your Home Restored
1. Get a Professional Inspection
Before you file with your insurance, call us for a free inspection. We can provide an objective assessment and help you understand the full extent of the damage before you file an unneeded claim with your insurance.
2. File With Your Insurance
Call your insurance company and file a claim against your home. Let them know that you have a contractor who you will be working with.
3. Meet With Your Adjuster
Your insurance adjuster’s job is to inspect your home thoroughly for damage and create a summary of coverable damages. It’s important for us to be present for this meeting so that both your insurance and contractor are on the same page, so let us know the day and time of this meeting.
4. Review Your Summary
Your insurance company will provide you with a summary of damages and repair costs. You will want us to review this with you so we can identify the damages your insurance company will be covering. If anything is missed, we will contact your insurance company and discuss the necessary supplements (addressing missed repairs), if needed.
5. Start a Contract for Repair
Once your questions and concerns have been addressed, we proceed to the contract agreement, which initiates your repair process. This is when discussions with your insurance company will begin if supplements are needed.
6. Review and Design
Now is the time to consider anything above and beyond what the insurance is covering; house washing, gutter guards, different color shingles, etc.
7. Project Folder Review
Our office staff and admin reviews your file for materials availability, insurance supplement approvals, project complexity, and color & quantity accuracy.
8. Deposit and Invoicing
You will receive your invoice related to your deposit.
9. Production Scheduling
Purchase orders are created and submitted to our suppliers to order your materials. Once the supplier receives your materials, we can schedule your installation date. We do not schedule installation dates until your materials are present.
10. Repair Begins
We understand it may have been a while since your initial inspection, and you’re likely eager to see your home repaired. Please note, not all of your repairs are going to be completed on the same day. Roofing, siding, gutters, garage doors, etc. all have different crews who specialize in their trade. We work with their schedules. As an exterior company, our scheduling is entirely dependent on the weather. Delays are inevitable, so please be prepared for them. Any installation dates are subject to change.
11. Final Payment
Once your insurance repairs have been completed, we submit pictures and request your insurance company to release “depreciation” funds. This will be the time to pay your deductible as well.
12. Enjoy Your Restored Home!
Your home’s repairs are now complete, and it looks better than ever. Thank you for trusting us throughout this process. We hope you are thrilled with the results, and we would love to work with you again. Whether it’s for maintenance, upgrades, or simply to answer your home exterior questions. Welcome back to peace of mind!
